Bucharest is divided in 6 zones. In this post I will tell you the best districts where you can stay in the capital of Romania.
For me, the best way to find a good hotel wherever I go, is to look at the subway map, if the city has one. So, for a quick start, look for these subway stations in Bucharest (highlighted with light green): Unirii, Universitate, Romana, Victoriei, Aviatorilor.
If you plan to visit Bucharest, the most wanted area – like most of the cities – is the Old Town. The Old Town is located in Unirii Square, very close to House of the People building (Casa Poporului). Also, in this area you will find the Jewish neighborhood. The best located hotels ordered descending by the distance:
- DoubleTree by Hilton (30 minutes walk, 2.3km);
- Mercure Hotel (20 minutes walk, 1.5km);
- NH Hotel (15 minutes walk, 1.2 km);
- Europa Royale Bucharest (8 minutes walk, 600m);
Very close to Old Town area, University Sqare offers you a great location for your stay. Here you will find km 0 of Bucharest, University of Bucharest, National Theatre of Bucharest, Cismigiu Park, and many other attractions. The best located hotels are:
- Novotel Bucharest City Center ( 10 minutes walk, 700m);
- Intercontinental Hotel Bucharest (7 minutes walk, 600m);
In the heart of Romana Square you will find the Academy of Economic Studies Bucharest. The best located hotels are:
Bucharest International Marathon
The best place to stay if you are planning to run at Bucharest International Marathon, is JW Marriot Bucharest Grand Hotel situated very close to House of the People (Casa Poporului) and of course, very close to start of marathon.
P.S. if you plan to visit Bucharest during the Euro 2020, you can find what hotels suit you best for this event.
